Tableau Conference 2026

Let’s see a show of hands. Who’s been to the Tableau Conference before? It’s one of the largest events in data visualization, period. Every year, it brings together Tableau users — aka the “DataFam” — for a week of learning, sharing, and reconnecting. This article covers what to expect at Tableau Conference 2026, plus helpful tips, pricing details, and how to make the most of it.

Tableau Conference 2026 ran May 5 to 7 in San Diego.

What is Tableau?

Tableau is a leading data visualization platform used across industries for turning raw data into charts, dashboards, and interactive reports. Its ease of use and ability to connect to dozens of data sources have made it the tool of choice for analysts and business teams alike.

Tableau’s community is huge, and so is its ecosystem. Tools like Rollstack are designed to help you get even more value out of it. Rollstack connects Tableau directly to PowerPoint and Google Slides so you can automate recurring reports without ever taking another screenshot. If you're in analytics, ops, or consulting, it's a timesaver.

Tableau also runs a Slack community, another good place for the DataFam to learn and connect.

What is the Tableau Conference?

The Tableau Conference is the annual gathering of Tableau users, developers, and data leaders from around the world. It’s the best place to hear product updates, get training, ask questions, and connect with people who do what you do.

Expect hands-on workshops, technical sessions, keynotes, and plenty of social events. There's also Iron Viz, the iconic live visualization showdown. And yes, there's always swag — don’t forget to hit the Tableau Store.

Where is the Tableau Conference?

Tableau Conference 2026 is happening at the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC), home to Comic-Con. It’s downtown, right on the water, across from Petco Park and steps from the Gaslamp Quarter. The venue is massive and walkable from dozens of hotels.

Getting there is easy. The airport’s about 20 minutes away, and ride shares are everywhere.

The SDCC can accommodate over 10,000 attendees and features an outdoor promenade, big session halls, and a huge dining atrium. The atmosphere is professional, but it never feels too stiff — it’s more like a university reunion for people who love charts.

Tableau Conference Price

For reference, here’s what Tableau Conference 2025 cost:

Interestingly 2024 prices were higher than in 2025.

Expect similar pricing for Tableau Conference 2027, with early bird discounts and promo codes.

Hotels at the Tableau Conference

The main hotels fill up fast. Consider:

  • Hilton Bayfront
  • Marriott Marquis
  • Manchester Grand Hyatt

If you’re on a budget, check out nearby hotels in Little Italy or East Village. Airbnb is another option. The venue is easy to reach from almost anywhere downtown.

Book early. Even the affordable spots get snapped up quickly.

Tableau Conference Tips

  • Register early. Prices go up, and rooms get booked. Don’t wait.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. Expect to walk. A lot. Think 16,000 to 22,000 steps a day. If you're tracking, join the Tableau Step Tracker and see how you stack up.
  • Bring sunglasses and a hat. The outdoor terrace is a hidden gem — great for meals, email catch-up, or impromptu meetings. The San Diego sun hits hard, especially if you're used to gloomier climates.
  • Plan your sessions by location. The San Diego Convention Center is massive. Choosing sessions near each other can save your legs and your seat — they will give spots away if you’re late.
  • Talk to people. This is one of the most welcoming tech communities out there. Ask a question. Compliment a viz. You’ll probably leave with a new connection — or at least a solid dashboard tip.
  • Take a break. Walk the harbor, get tacos, or head to Balboa Park for a mental reset.
  • Use ride share. The airport, Coronado, and most meetups are a short Lyft or Uber away.

Tableau Conference Dress Code

Smart casual is the unofficial uniform. Think: tech polos, jeans, comfortable shoes, and a backpack. Some people go dressy, others wear shorts. The real must-haves are comfy shoes and a phone charger.

What to wear

Business casual and smart casual are both normal. Business casual means slacks or chinos, a shirt or blouse, and closed-toe shoes. Smart casual is a step more relaxed: jeans with a blazer or a neat top. The days are long and you're on your feet, so most people pick smart casual, and shorts and t-shirts are common when it's warm.

Come as you are. The DataFam is a welcoming crowd, and you'll see a suit next to bright colors, tattoos and colorful hair.

Tableau merch and swag

Tableau merch is always in fashion. The official Tableau Conference store sells branded clothing and gear, and Tableau account teams and Tableau User Groups (TUGs) often hand out swag. Sponsor booths give away plenty too, and some partner teams wear matching shirts.

What to bring

  • A laptop, if you plan to visit Tableau Doctor for one-on-one help with your workbooks
  • A backup battery and a long charging cable. Outlets near seating go fast.
  • A backpack or tote for your laptop, charger and swag
  • A reusable water bottle or coffee mug. There are refill stations around the venue.
  • Earplugs and an eye mask, if your hotel is near the nightlife

Rollstack at the Tableau Conference

At Tableau Conference 2025, Rollstack was a Groundbreaker sponsor. We met hundreds of data pros, and our live session was standing-room only.

In 2026, we were back.

Rollstack helps Tableau users build client decks, board updates, and internal QBRs without all the copying and pasting. Our integration connects Tableau directly to PowerPoint and Google Slides. You keep the look you want, and we keep it updated. Automatically.

If that sounds helpful, book a demo.

Tableau Conference Live Stream and On Demand

Certain sessions and keynotes live stream on Salesforce+, and many are available on demand afterward. Not every session is recorded, so attend in person if you can.

Both Rollstack sessions were recorded. Watch How SoFi Automates PowerPoint Reporting with Tableau and Rollstack (TC25) and From dashboards to executive reporting at Tripadvisor (TC26) on Rollstack's YouTube channel.
